Delete your KinectedCare account

You can ask us to delete your KinectedCare account and the personal data associated with it — even if you no longer have the app installed. Here's how, and exactly what happens to your data.

How to request deletion

If you still have the app, you can delete your account in Settings. If you've uninstalled it or would rather not, request deletion by email:

  1. Email us from your registered address. Send a message to delete@steamboatsoftware.com from the email address on your KinectedCare account. Using that address is how we confirm the request is really yours.
  2. We verify it's you. We may reply to confirm a few details before we act, so that no one can delete an account that isn't theirs.
  3. We delete your data and confirm when it's done. We complete deletion within 30 days and email you to confirm. Most requests are handled well within that window.

If you have a paid subscription: deleting your account does not automatically cancel it. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so to stop future charges you'll also need to cancel in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings on your device.

If you share a care circle with others

KinectedCare is built around a shared care circle — a CareReceiver and the CareGivers looking out for them. Because your data can live inside a circle that other people also belong to, deletion works a little differently depending on your role. In every case, the rest of the circle is told plainly what happened.

If you're a CareGiver and others remain

Your account and personal data are removed, and the care circle continues for everyone else. The remaining members see a plain note that you've left.

If you're the person being cared for

You can always leave. Because the circle exists to look after you, your departure winds it down — the whole circle is told plainly that your care through KinectedCare has ended, and the wind-down follows the timeline below.

If you're the only person managing the circle

To avoid leaving someone without their safety net unexpectedly, the circle enters a wind-down and the person being cared for is told clearly and offered the chance to keep their protection. We don't quietly strand anyone who is relying on the app.

What we delete, and what we keep

Deletion removes the personal data tied to your account — your profile details (name, email, phone), your location and any health-related information the app held for you, and the notes and care history you authored — except for the limited cases below, which we're disclosing here so you know exactly what's retained and for how long.

Wind-down and retention timeline

A care circle isn't erased in a single instant. It first enters a short, reversible wind-down (so an accidental or regretted closure can be undone), then moves to a read-only archive for a limited period, and is then permanently deleted.

Data we're legally required to keep

We may retain a limited set of records where the law requires it — for example, transaction and tax records related to a paid subscription. This is kept only as long as legally required and is not used for any other purpose. Everything else is deleted.
