Frequently asked questions
Everything families ask before getting started — devices, fall detection, privacy, pricing, and setup.
What is KinectedCare and how does it help families?
KinectedCare is a caregiver app that uses a smartphone — instead of a pendant — to help a parent or loved one live independently. It gives the whole family a shared care team with a daily wellbeing snapshot, notes, and one clear HELP button the person can press to reach everyone at once.
Does the person being cared for have to wear a pendant or special device?
No. There's no proprietary pendant. The person being cared for wears an ordinary smartwatch — the kind many people already own and are happy to wear because it's useful every day.
How does the HELP button work?
When the person being cared for needs someone, they press HELP — with a two-step confirm so it can't fire by accident. That sends a priority alert to the whole care team at once, reaching caregivers even when their phones are on silent or Do Not Disturb, and shows a CareID screen a stranger or first responder can use to reach the person's people. HELP is pressed by the person themselves; KinectedCare does not detect emergencies on its own, and it is not a substitute for calling emergency services.
How is my privacy protected?
KinectedCare is Ultra-Private. We don't sell or market user data, data is encrypted in transit, and sensitive information is shared only among the people in your care team who agreed to share it. Health and location data stay within your family.
What health data does KinectedCare use?
With the user's permission, KinectedCare reads wellbeing data such as sleep, steps, and stairs from Apple Health or Google Health to provide a daily snapshot for the care team. It's only used to support caregiving among people who have agreed to share, and never sold.
Can caregivers live far away and still use KinectedCare?
Yes — that's the point. Caregivers can be anywhere. Everyone in the care team sees the same wellbeing snapshot and notes, and everyone is alerted at the same moment when the HELP button is pressed, so distance doesn't mean being out of the loop.
Is KinectedCare available on both iOS and Android?
Yes. It's one app on both iOS and Android, on phones and tablets, and a family can mix Apple and Android devices in the same care team.
Is there a cost to use KinectedCare?
Coordinating care is free — the shared care team, notes, care log, and daily wellbeing snapshot cost nothing. KinectedGuard, the safety layer — the HELP button, priority alert delivery that pierces silent and Do Not Disturb, a reachability heartbeat, and a voice-fallback path — is an optional subscription with a 14-day free trial, then $29 per quarter. If a subscription lapses, the app stays usable; it simply steps back to the free coordination layer, and you're always told before your coverage ends.
How do I get started?
Download KinectedCare — it's the same app for everyone. Open it, choose the caregiver role, and create a care team. Invite the person being cared for and other family, friends, or neighbors. To turn on the KinectedGuard safety layer, start the free trial and grant the permissions the app requests so the HELP button and priority alerts can reach the team.
