In the moment
Stay calm and don't rush to lift them. Check whether they're hurt or in pain before any movement; a wrong lift can make an injury worse. If there's any sign of serious injury — head impact, severe pain, confusion, or they can't get up — call local emergency services immediately. If they're unhurt, help them to a stable position slowly, using a sturdy chair for support.
Why fast response matters
The danger of a fall isn't only the impact — it's the time spent on the floor afterward. An older person who can't get up and can't reach a phone may be stranded for hours, and that "long lie" carries its own serious health risks. The faster someone knows, the better the outcome.
How KinectedCare helps
With KinectedCare, the person being cared for has one clear HELP button1 — when they press it, a priority alert reaches the entire care team at the same moment, not a call center, but the people who love them and can act. Everyone sees who's responding, so help isn't duplicated or, worse, assumed to be someone else's job. (KinectedCare does not detect falls on its own.)
An honest limit
KinectedCare does not detect emergencies on its own and is not a substitute for emergency services. What it does is give your parent a simple way to summon their family the moment they need help — which is often the gap that matters most.
